Education

Iker Rodriguez Mugica earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry with mention in Macromolecules from the University of the Basque Country (EHU) in July 2024. He completed his final project and summer internships (2023, 2024) within the Polymerization Processes (POLYMAT) group, focusing on the synthesis of polythioethers in dispersed media under the supervision of Prof. Radmila Tomovska and Dr. Justine Elgoyhen. Following this, he earned a Double Master in Polymer Science (DMiPS) in July 2025 from the University of the Basque Country (EHU) and the Université de Bordeaux (UBx). His master's final project explored the potential of thiol-ene chemistry for crosslinking applications in waterborne polymer dispersions.

Research

His current research is dedicated to advancing thiol-ene crosslinking methodologies to improve the performance of waterborne polymer coatings, under the supervision of Prof. Radmila Tomovska and Dr. Justine Elgoyhen.
