Polimerbio (https://polimerbio.com/es/), a company specialized in bioabsorbable medical devices, was born in 2017. Pioneer in the use of polymers in medical applications, Polimerbio collaborates with medical specialists for the development and manufacture of new generation biomedical devices.

The biotechnological spin off aspires to be an international reference in the treatment of soft tissue injuries such as: muscular system, cardiovascular, digestive, genitourinary, nervous, respiratory or skin and cartilage.

SURPHASE (https://www.surphase.eu/) is an expert company in detecting different compounds and particles in fluids especially in important markets where there are currently no solutions or where existing technologies fail. SURPHASE strategically directs its activity in the water treatment sector and specifically, in the membrane water desalination market, since this market is one of the largest sectors in liquid filtration and has great potential for growth due to the continuous increase in water scarcity on the planet.

SURPHASE proposes a disruptive technology based on sensors that monitors and detects membrane fouling in real time and in a non-invasive way for the water treatment and production sector. SURPHASE offers an early and predictive fouling detection system with a sensitivity that has not been available on the market until now. The sensor device that SURPHASE has developed, simulates the membrane process in a representative way and optimizes the cleaning strategy, minimizing the damage intrinsically associated with fouling. In this way, the use of aggressive chemicals is reduced, making the cleaning process more sustainable and respectful with the environment, the useful life of the membranes is increased and the downtime of the process related to times is shortened. cleaning reducing the opportunity costs generated by the water that is no longer produced.

The SURPHASE device is easily modular and very versatile. For this reason, it can be applied in other sectors in which an intensive use of filtration membranes is made: oil & gas industry, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, mining, food and beverages and chemical industry.

POLYKEY POLYMERS (www.polykey.eu) emerged in 2020 as a spin-off company from the Innovative Polymers Group of the POLYMAT Institute together with the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU). POLYKEY acts as a polymer producer and R&D solutions provider in three areas established as objectives for a transitions to a sustainable future: the biobased polymer industry, the chemical recycling of plastics and the synthesis of innovative polymeric materials for energy storage applications.
