Education

Gorane Sansiñena Emazabel earned her BSc in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in July 2023. Her Bachelor’s thesis was carried out at TECNALIA under the supervision of Dr. Izaskun Bustero and Oihane Sanz, focusing on liquid metal inks for electronic printing. She then completed a master’s degree in chemistry and Polymers at the University of the Basque Country in September 2024. She conducted her master’s thesis at POLIMERBIO under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Muñoz and Dr. Agustín Etxeberria, she worked on organic synthesis to obtain functionalized fullerenes with polar groups for biomedical applications, as well as on the synthesis of PCL-based additives via ring-opening polymerization (ROP).
In 2025, she was awarded a Global Training Grant to carry out a six-month research stay at the University of Cambridge in the group of Prof. Roisin M. Owens. There, she focused on 3D printing techniques to optimize conductive polymers for the fabrication of a bioelectronic model replicating intestinal tissue architecture.

Research

Gorane is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Ana Beloqui, Dr. Matías Picchio and Dr. Manuel Eduardo Martínez Cartagena. Her research focuses on the development of new printable multi-materials, specifically sustainable and biocompatible actuating patches for biomedical applications.
