Mikel Larumbe Aguirre earned his BSc in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in July 2024. His BSc thesis was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Irune Villaluenga and Dr. Oihane Sanz in the synthesis and characterization of nobel polymer electrolytes and cathodes for lithium metal batteries as an alternative to polyethylene (PEO) and Poly vinylidene fluoride(PVDF) as an biocompatible option.
Following the electrochemical steps performed via his BSc thesis, he earned his Master in Electrochemistry, Science and technology from the University of Alicante (UA) in September 2025. For his Master thesis, he worked in the development and optimization of polymer electrolytes in Sodium-Sulfur batteries using PEO as based for the electrolytes and optimizing different additives searching for a better performance, supervised by Dr Roberto Gomez and Dr Andres Parra.
