Polymers for Bioelectronics

We develop conductive polymeric materials for the new generation of implantable and wearable biomedical devices.

Bioelectronics, which integrates biology and electronics, is driving a new generation of medical devices such as electrodes for electrophysiology, conductive scaffolds for tissue engineering, biosensors, ionic pumps or e-skin-type devices. Our research focuses on the development of soft materials with ionic and electronic conductivity, including semiconjugated polymers, PEDOTs, biocompatible iongels and polymers with mixed ionic-electronic conduction.
We also work on the detection of contaminants and biological agents present in air and water — such as microcontaminants, bacteria, viruses and biomarkers — through the design of selective sensing surfaces based on functional oligonucleotides.
