Biopolymers for agri-food systems
We develop sustainable biopolymers and biocomposites to replace conventional plastics in agriculture and food.
The use of traditional plastics in the agricultural and food sectors contributes to pollution, resource depletion and greenhouse gas emissions. Our research focuses on the development of biobased, biodegradable and active materials obtained from sustainable biomass.
We apply green processing methods to transform biomass into functional materials that reduce waste, improve soil health, promote plant growth and resilience, and extend the shelf life of food. Based on circular economy principles, we design high-performance, environmentally friendly materials conceived for sustainable end-of-life solutions.
