Gabriela Pinheiro obtained her BSc in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, in December 2021. During her undergraduate studies, she was an undergraduate researcher at the Laboratory of Catalysis and Interfacial Phenomena (LACFI) from 2017 to 2021, under the supervision of Prof. Bruno Silveira de Souza, where she worked on the synthesis and functionalization of polymer-based magnetic composites for catalytic applications, particularly focused on the degradation of organophosphates.
From 2022 to 2023, she worked at Flexível S.A., where she was involved in the characterization of polyurethanes, the development of foam formulations, and the transfer of laboratory methods to industrial-scale production. From 2023 until the beginning of her PhD, she worked as an R&D researcher at Duas Rodas S.A., an aroma company, where she focused on the extraction of bioactive compounds and texture agents from agro-industrial byproducts. Her work also involved exploring lignocellulosic residues as renewable sources for the development of new chemicas and optimizing processes for their application in sustainable food formulations, including plant-based products.
Currently, she is pursuing her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Haritz Sardon and Dr. Marta Ximenis. Her research focuses on organocatalyzed polymer synthesis for additive manufacturing.
