Juan began his academic journey at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, earning his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering in 2014. During this time, he completed an industrial internship focused on quantifying chemical conversion in polymerization reactors using gravimetry. He subsequently earned an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 2017, supported by a fellowship from Colombian oil company, where he focused on process optimization, reactor engineering, and computer programming. Before pursuing his doctorate, Juan spent five years in the R&D department of a Colombian company, where he led the development of waterborne, acrylic-based polymer dispersions for coatings. His current research is focused on the fundamentals of emulsion polymerization (Radical Entry), understanding the phenomena that take place in the aqueous phase.
