SALAMANDER releases its final documentary on smart, self-healing batteries
02/11/2026
SALAMANDER investigates how sensing technologies and self-healing materials can be combined within lithium-ion batteries. The aim is to identify signs of degradation and activate mechanisms that could help repair damage, improving battery reliability and extending service life.
POLYMAT’s contribution focuses on developing polymers with self-healing properties for use as battery binders. This work forms part of a broader collaboration connecting materials research, battery monitoring and system integration.
The documentary offers a closer look at this multidisciplinary approach and the challenges of making different materials and technologies work together inside a battery.
SALAMANDER receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 101104028.
