We print and electrospin latexes to obtain high-performance parts and nanofibres in a sustainable manner.
Among the advantages of latexes, dispersions of polymeric nanoparticles in water, is their high concentration of high molecular weight polymer combined with low viscosity. These advantages make latexes products of great interest for both electrospinning and 3D printing (vat photopolymerisation), avoiding the use of organic solvents. Drawing on the group’s extensive expertise in the synthesis and characterisation of latexes, the fundamentals of the effect of latex properties on advanced manufacturing processes are studied, in order to develop novel, functional and high-performance materials through more sustainable processes.
