Biobased and Degradable Polymer Dispersions
We develop more sustainable polymeric dispersions through the use of biobased monomers and degradable materials.
There is strong demand to improve the sustainability of emulsion polymers. One strategy consists of replacing monomers of petrochemical origin with biobased alternatives, derived wholly or partially from biomass. This substitution enables a reduction in the dependence on fossil resources in the synthesis of these materials.
Another path towards greater sustainability is to address the end-of-life management of products, developing biodegradable polymeric systems that can degrade after use. To facilitate this transition, it is fundamental to investigate new monomer-polymer systems that allow these sustainability criteria to be integrated without compromising material performance.
