Responsive Polymers for Therapeutics

We design smart polymeric materials capable of responding to stimuli for advanced therapeutic and diagnostic applications.

Our research focuses on the fine-tuning of the functionality of polymeric materials through the control of synthetic parameters and the rational incorporation of stimuli-sensitive units into their structure. We explore encapsulation, conjugation and functionalisation strategies with biologically active molecules to broaden their application in the biomedical field.
We work on multifunctional polymer-drug conjugates, innovative diagnostic technologies with a theranostic approach, and the development of environment-sensitive hydrogels spanning dimensions from the nanoscale to the macroscopic scale. This activity is supported by a solid foundation in polymer and organic chemistry, as well as an extensive international collaboration network in areas such as gene therapy, oncology and dermal drug delivery.
