Rheology and Advanced Manufacturing
We apply the fundamentals of polymer physics and rheology to develop and optimise advanced manufacturing technologies.
We work on advanced polymer 3D printing technologies, including material extrusion, stereolithography and powder bed fusion, as well as electrospinning and hybrid manufacturing concepts. Our goal is to optimise and integrate new materials into industrially scalable processes.
The research is underpinned by a deep knowledge of polymer physics and applied rheology, and addresses the development of biobased blends, stimuli-responsive and shape-memory systems, dynamic networks, gels and hydrogels, as well as carbon fibre-reinforced composites. This vision of advanced manufacturing combines synthetic, theoretical and applied research to design materials adapted to new productive technologies.
