Science and engineering of polymeric biomaterials
Xabier Larrañaga holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Materials (2018), and an International Cum Laude PhD awarded in 2024 through the Doctoral Program in Engineering of Materials and Sustainable Processes. In 2025 he joined the University of the Basque Country (EHU) as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering and Metallurgy and Materials Science at the Bilbao School of Engineering. His research activity focuses on polymer processing and structural characterization, with a particular emphasis on multifunctional polymeric systems, advanced composites, shape-memory materials, and piezoelectric polymer-based responses. His contributions include the design and optimization of functional polymer architectures, the study of structure–property relationships in novel composite systems, and the development of characterization strategies to evaluate mechanical, thermal, and electromechanical performance.
