Xabi Lopez de Pariza obtained his BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Polymer Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (EHU). During his MSc, Xabi worked at IBM Research, USA, under the supervision of Dr. James L. Hedrick, focusing on autonomous polyurethane synthesis platforms. Soon after, he pursued his PhD at the University of the Basque Country (POLYMAT/EHU), under the supervision of Prof. Haritz Sardon and Prof. David Mecerreyes. There, Xabi developed non-radical photopolymerization processes for light-based additive manufacturing applications, with a strong focus on the design and implementation of recyclable and reprocessable polymers. After his PhD, he conducted a postdoctoral stay at POLYMAT in collaboration with Wacker Chemie, under the supervision of Prof. Jose Ramon Leiza, Prof. Haritz Sardon and Dr. Aitor Barquero focused on the development of degradable waterborne emulsion polymers. Currently, he is conducting an EHU-funded postdoctoral research project jointly based at the University of Amsterdam and EHU, under the supervision of Prof. Timothy Noël and Prof. Haritz Sardon. His work focuses on developing autonomous reaction workflows for polymer recycling and valorization. Xabi is also co-founder and technology director of the POLYMAT-EHU spin off Hevea3D.
