Matías Picchio obtained his BEng and PhD in Chemical Engineering in Argentina. After completing postdoctoral research at the National University of Córdoba, he joined POLYMAT at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2021, initially working on deep eutectic solvents and eutectogels for bioelectronic applications. At POLYMAT, he later received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship to develop nanomaterials for biomedical applications. He is currently an Ikerbasque Research Fellow and Ramón y Cajal Fellow at POLYMAT, based at the ZIBIO Group of the Bilbao School of Engineering.
His current research focuses on functional soft materials based on deep eutectic solvents, including eutectogels, polymerizable eutectic systems, and eutectozymes. His work combines supramolecular chemistry, polymer science, and biomaterials to develop innovative platforms for drug delivery, wound healing, and bioelectronic applications.
