Dr. Maria Barcenilla Castellano

María Barcenilla earned her BSc. in Chemistry from the University of Valladolid in 2015. Then, she worked at the CINQUIMA Institute (also in Valladolid), where she obtained both her MSc. in Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry (2016) and her PhD (2022) under the supervision of Prof. Silverio Coco Cea and Prof. Pablo Espinet Rubio. The main goal of her investigation was the rational design of new metallomesogens with unconventional structures or enhanced properties of interest in the field of liquid crystals. María is focused on the synthesis and characterisation of molecular nanobelts and belt-shaped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
