Novel Applications

Investigación

Waterborne colloidal polymer particles are useful building blocks for nanostructured materials design. Functional polymer particles synthesized by emulsion or miniemulsion polymerization can be combined with various inorganic materials, such as graphene and carbon nanotubes, or different nanoparticles (TiO2, Fe3O4 magnetic, MoS2 or VO2). By the use of low-energy consuming and green techniques, such as self-assembly or green electrospinning, these hybrid dispersions are transformed into composite nanostructured materials that can be either compact self-standing films, nanofibers or porous three-dimensional materials. These novel composite materials have potential for a wide range of applications such as sensing, CO2 capture, fuel cells, catalysis, water purification or medicine.
