Biobased and Degradable Polymer Dispersions
Investigación
There is a strong market demand to improve the sustainability of emulsion polymers and this can be done following two different approaches. Most of the emulsion polymers are synthesized with monomers derived from the petrochemical industry and these monomers can be substituted by biobased alternatives, which are products derived in whole or in part from the biomass. Another way to improve the sustainability of emulsion polymers is to look at the end-of-life management of these products, synthesizing (bio)degradable products that would degrade after their use. For this transition to occur, fundamental investigation into new monomer/polymer systems is the key.
