Kevin Palma receives a Best Poster Award at PRE 2026
15/09/2026
Kevin Palma, a postdoctoral researcher at POLYMAT and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), has received one of the Best Poster Awards at the 15th International Workshop on Polymer Reaction Engineering (PRE 2026).
His poster, “Knowledge-Guided Machine Learning for Bayesian Optimization of Polymerization Processes”, was presented in the Data Science and AI in Polymer Reaction Engineering session and was selected for recognition from among 51 posters at the workshop.
The contribution presents a knowledge-guided machine-learning approach to Bayesian optimization in polymerization processes. The research explores how established process knowledge can be incorporated into data-driven optimization to guide the search for promising operating conditions more efficiently.
PRE 2026 was held at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP in Potsdam, Germany, from 8 to 11 September. The international workshop brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss advances in polymer-process design and optimization, simulation, analytics and sustainable production.
Congratulations to Kevin on this recognition.
