Dr. Yousef Tamsilian received his BSc (2008) and MSc (2011) in Chemical Engineering and PhD (2016) in Nanotechnology from Sharif University of Technology. His research spans polymer science, surface engineering, smart nanocomposites, and porous materials for energy and environmental applications, with particular emphasis on translating advanced materials research into practical technologies.
He has developed a multidisciplinary career across academia and industry, leading and contributing to research projects, supervising MSc and PhD students, and publishing peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and patents. His international research experience includes collaborations and visiting activities with institutions in Spain, the USA, Italy, the UK, France, Germany, Qatar, and Iran. He also serves as a reviewer for scientific journals, research projects, and ISO-related activities.
Dr. Tamsilian is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at POLYMAT, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), working in Prof. Radmila Tomovska’s group. His current research focuses on CO₂ capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), particularly the development of graphene/thiol–ene polymer nanogyroid architectures combining materials design, advanced characterization, and process engineering.
Alongside his scientific expertise, he holds certifications in Project Management (PMP), Risk Management, Strategy Management, and Business Development, supporting his experience in managing research and technology-development projects from laboratory scale toward industrial implementation. His distinctions include a HORIZON-MSCA Fellowship, participation in Erasmus+ internationalization programs, recognition among the top 10% of research faculty members in Iranian universities for three consecutive years, and scientific publication awards.
