Dr. Javier Martínez Sabando
Javier Martínez obtained his Bachelor's double degree in Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Navarra (UN) in 2012.Later, he pursued a Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2013. During his Master's Thesis, he worked at the CNB (Centro Nacional de Biotecnología) in the Department of Macromolecular Structures directed by Dr. Valpuesta, studying the interaction of chaperones and misfolded proteins. He then pursued a second Master's Degree at the Basque Culinary Center (BCC), completing his Master's Thesis at the Materials Physics Center (MPC) in collaboration with Restaurant Mugaritz, where the effects of different enzymes on the thermal, structural, and rheological properties of various vegetal food matrices were studied under the supervision of Dr. Arboleya and Dr. Cerveny.
He started his PhD in 2019 at the Polymers and Soft Matter Group under the supervision of Dr. Cerveny, developing and characterizing biodegradable polymeric films for the remediation of water contaminated by pharmaceuticals and heavy metals."
