Third POLYMAT Research Seminar

Following the successful continuation of the POLYMAT Research Seminar Series 2026, we are pleased to announce the upcoming session of this monthly initiative, presented by our researchers to strengthen collaboration within the center and encourage knowledge exchange across diverse research areas.

The next session will take place on April 30 at the Auditorium Barriola. The program will begin with a coffee break from 11:30 to 12:00, followed by two research talks. Dr. Vincenzo Calabrese will open the session with “Stretching Polymer Solutions” from 12:00 to 12:30. This will be followed by Dr. Eduardo Martínez-Cartagena, who will present “Deep Eutectic Solvents as Non-Native Media for Biocatalysis” from 12:30 to 13:00.

This session will explore fundamental and applied aspects of polymer science and biocatalysis. On the one hand, it will address the complex dynamics of polymer solutions under extensional flows, shedding light on how molecular conformations far from equilibrium govern macroscopic behavior in processes such as fibre spinning or inkjet printing. On the other, it will present emerging strategies based on deep eutectic solvents as tunable, non-native media to enable enzymatic activity beyond aqueous environments, opening new possibilities for catalysis, advanced materials, and hybrid functional systems.
