Inspiring STEM Talent in the Basque Country

Our Polymat researchers, Alodi Pascal, Beñat Olave, and Daniele Mantione, recently participated in the “STEM Orientation Days” activities.

On Friday, 21st November, over 125 secondary school students had the opportunity to explore career paths and innovation in the science and technology sector through direct conversations with professionals. In total, 766 students from 17 schools and 143 STEM professionals across the Basque Country took part in eight speed-dating style sessions designed to connect students with experts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This initiative is part of the STEAM Euskadi Strategy, promoted by the Basque Government in collaboration with the Basque Innovation Agency (Innobasque), the University of Deusto, EHU, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Hetel, Ikaslan, AICE-IZEA, and Elhuyar.

The involvement of researchers in these sessions helps bring science closer to young people and inspires future talent to pursue careers in research and technology, contributing to a lasting impact on the Basque scientific ecosystem.
