Wichsuda Tangsongcharoen Successfully Defends Her PhD Thesis at POLYMAT

On October 17th, 2025, Wichsuda Tangsongcharoen successfully defended her PhD thesis, “Release of Solvents from Latex Films for Industrial Coatings,” at the Korta Auditorium.

Supervised by Prof. Maria Paulis, Wichsuda’s research explores the effect of plasticizer release on the final properties of blend, hybrid, and block copolymer latex films containing hard and soft phases. By investigating how coalescing aids influence film formation and mechanical performance, her work provides a deeper understanding of solvent and additive migration in complex latex systems. This knowledge contributes to optimizing film morphology, improving coating efficiency, and promoting the development of more sustainable and high-performance industrial coatings.

Her thesis defense was evaluated by a distinguished committee composed of Prof. Véronique Schmitt (National Centre of Scientific Research, CNRS – Bordeaux University) as President, Prof. Nicholas Ballard (POLYMAT) as Secretary, and Dr. Rebeca Hernández Velasco (CSIC) as Member.

POLYMAT warmly congratulates Dr. Tangsongcharoen for her excellent research and significant contributions to the advancement of polymer science and sustainable industrial coatings.
