POLYMAT and Tecnalia join forces to boost green hydrogen in the Basque Country

We are pleased to announce an exciting collaboration between POLYMAT and Tecnalia, two leaders in research and development in the Basque region. This strategic alliance has as its main objective to boost the green hydrogen value chain, focusing on the field of polymers and membranes for electrolysers.

The joint project seeks to accelerate the development and scale-up of competitive and stable membranes for electrolysers, essential for the generation of green hydrogen, a clean and renewable energy source that will play a crucial role in the decarbonisation of our society.

Tecnalia, with more than 20 years of experience in hydrogen technologies and polymeric membranes, will lead the technological development in this project.

For its part, the POLYMAT team, led by Nerea Casado and David Mecerreyes, will contribute its vast experience in the synthesis of polymers for electrochemical applications.

This alliance represents an important step towards the creation of a robust and collaborative innovation ecosystem in the Basque Country, where research and development in clean and renewable technologies play a key role in building a more sustainable and resilient future.
