Dr. Elena Gabirondo Amenabar
Elena Gabirondo Amenabar earned her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country in 2017. She obtained her Master’s degree in Chemistry and Polymers from the same university in 2018. In 2022, she completed her PhD at UPV/EHU under the supervision of Dr. Haritz Sardon and Dr. Agustín Etxeberria. Her doctoral research focused on the synthesis and chemical recycling of polyesters.
In 2023, she was awarded a Basque Government postdoctoral fellowship and moved to Portugal to work under the supervision of Prof. Liliana Tomé, first at NOVA University of Lisbon and later at the University of Coimbra. During this period, she worked for two years on the preparation of membranes for diverse applications.
Since September 2025, she has been a Gipuzkoa Fellow researcher at POLYMAT, focusing on the design, synthesis, and preparation of membranes, primarily for separation applications.
