Fourth POLYMAT Research Seminar
Following the successful continuation of the POLYMAT Research Seminar Series 2026, we are pleased to announce the upcoming session of this monthly initiative, presented by our researchers to strengthen collaboration within the center and encourage knowledge exchange across diverse research areas.
The fourth session will take place on Friday, May 29 at the Aulario Barriola Auditorium. The program will begin with a welcome coffee from 11:30 to 12:00, followed by two research talks. Dorleta Otaegui will open the session with “MALDI TOF Mass Spectrometry: Principles, Instrumentation, and Applications” from 12:00 to 12:30. This will be followed by Izabela Kurowska, who will present “Ammonium salts as curing agents to obtain ionic epoxy resins with a thermoplastic-to-thermoset transition” from 12:30 to 13:00.
This session will explore advanced analytical techniques and sustainable material processing. On the one hand, it will address the fundamental principles of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, detailing its operation from soft laser ionization to ion detection and highlighting its key applications in polymer characterization. On the other, it will present a new class of epoxy thermosets formulated using ammonium salts as hardeners, introducing an unusual thermoplastic-like intermediate stage that enables advanced processing methods and chemical recycling for sustainable composite manufacturing.
