Diksha Dhiman earned her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Gargi College, University of Delhi, India, in 2017. She then pursued a Master's in Chemistry at the same university in the Department of
Chemistry in 2019, with a specialization in Physical Chemistry. Following this, she completed a six-month internship at IIT-Delhi, where she utilized NMR spectroscopy to characterize protein
structures. Driven by her interest in proteins, she enrolled in a PhD program at a biophysical laboratory in 2020 and successfully completed her doctorate in 2024. During her doctoral studies, she gained
international experience as a visiting researcher at Inha University in the Republic of Korea for two months, where she learned the synthesis of two-dimensional nanomaterials known as MXenes. She subsequently joined the Institute of Plant Genetics at the Polish Academy of Sciences as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on plant proteins such as horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and glucose oxidase (GOx) and investigating their enzymatic activity profiles. In 2026, Diksha was awarded the highly prestigious MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship and joined POLYMAT in July, where she is currently working at the intersection of polymer-based nanomaterials and plant science. Her research is specifically dedicated to deciphering the mechanisms of cell wall penetration via polymer-based nanoparticles. Diksha’s long-term goal is to synthesis sustainable, non-viral, non- GMO biomaterials to enable the next generation of genome editing technologies for agriculture.
