Giovanni Berluti
He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2021 and 2023, respectively. During his studies, he completed a research period abroad at the University of Antwerp (Belgium), where he worked on the continuous-flow electrocatalytic reduction of CO₂ at high temperatures.
In 2023, he joined the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions “D-Carbonize” programme, a European double-doctorate programme carried out jointly by the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) and the University of the Basque Country (Spain) as the main and secondary host institutions, respectively. During this period, his research has focused on the catalytic valorisation of bio-based substrates and CO₂ to produce novel cyclic carbonate monomers, followed by their polymerisation into non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPHUs).
In September 2026, continuing along this research trajectory, he joined the University of Liège for a three-month research period, during which he worked on the development of novel catalytic processes for the production of cyclic carbonates using flow chemistry.
