Kevin Palma
Kevin Palma received his B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, in 2011. In July 2021, he earned his M.Sc. degree in Applied Chemistry and Polymers from the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV). His master's thesis project was carried out in the Rheology department at POLYMAT, under the supervision of Dr. Itxaso Calafel and Dr. Robert Hernández Aguirresarobe.
His bachelor's project was focused on the production process of anhydrous ethanol from sugarcane molasses for biofuels applications. The master's thesis was focused on the rheology and processing of modified biodegradable biopolymers for blown-film extrusion applications.
He recently obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Polymeric Materials under the supervision of Prof. José R. Leiza, and Dr. Shaghayegh Hamzehlou. His research project dealed with the synthesis, characterization, modeling and optimization of the free radical copolymerization of water-soluble monomers to produce comb-like copolymers used as additives for cement.
Currently, he is working as a Post-Doctoral researcher in the developement of Polymer Chemistry Informed Neural Networks with Professor Nicholas Ballard and Dr. Shaghayegh Hamzehlou.
