REMAP: Sustainable Refinement of Polymerization Processes through Machine Learning

23/09/2026

English

The REMAP project aims to advance the sustainable transformation of polymerization processes by combining the development of new bio-based monomers with artificial intelligence and machine-learning methods. The project addresses the challenge of replacing fossil-based monomers while maintaining the performance required by existing industrial polymer formulations.

Project Objectives

REMAP combines the synthesis of new bio-based monomers from second-generation biomass, which does not compete with food uses, with artificial intelligence methods designed to accelerate their incorporation into existing industrial formulations. By integrating macromolecular reaction engineering and machine learning, the project aims to take new bio-based polymers from laboratory development to pilot-plant production and industrial prototyping at TRL5, supported by cross-border cooperation between research centres and companies.

Priority and Political Objective

Priority 1 (P1): Create a common space for knowledge and innovation, promoting digital transformation and sustainable growth.

Political Objective 1 (PO1): A smarter Europe.

Budget and Funding

Total Project Budget
€1,042,233.37
ERDF (FEDER) Funding

Institutional Support

The REMAP project is 65% co-financed by the European Union through the INTERREG VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027). The objective of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area.
