Dr. Sima Lashkari
Sima Lashkari received her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (2008) from the University of Shiraz, Iran. Her major was petrochemical and refinery.
She received her master’s degree in 2013 from the University of New Brunswick in Canada under the supervision of Dr. Felipe Chibante. Her thesis (“Thermal Conductivity of Polydimethylsiloxane/carbon nanocomposite nanocomposite”) was focused on studying the effect of the percolation network of carbon nanotubes as composite filler on the thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites for application as thermal interface materials. During her master’s, she did a 6 months internship program in Fraunhofer institute (Umsicht) in Germany on thermochemical storage using thermo-reversible Diels Alder reactions between organic acids and nitrogen bases.
Sima received her PhD in 2022 from the University of Waterloo in Canada under the supervision of Dr. Michael Pope. Her thesis is entitled “Ionic liquid/surfactant mixtures as multi-functional electrolytes for graphene-based supercapacitors”. During her PhD, she developed composites of graphene/ionic liquid and block copolymers using self assembly to achieve high energy density electrodes. She also studied the effect of block copolymers on the capacitance of the ionic liquid electrolyte under study.
In July 2024, Sima started her postdoctoral research position in the Innovative Polymer for Energy group at POLYMAT which is managed by Dr. David Mecerreyes. Her research is mainly focused on organic materials for energy storage application and 3D printing of batteries.
