Education

With a background in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Beni-Suef University, Egypt, and a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry specializing in Drug Delivery Systems from the same institution, Hayam has developed a passion for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of materials science and biological applications. Her academic journey has provided her with a solid foundation in polymer chemistry, particularly in the preparation of hydrogels/nanogels for cancer drug delivery. As a former research assistant at the American University in Cairo, Hayam focused her efforts on the preparation of hydrogel nanocomposite beads for wound healing applications.

On March 2024, she has joined Polymat for her PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Marcelo Calderón.

Research

Currently, Hayam is pursuing her Ph.D. studies at Polymat. Her research project revolves around the preparation of nanocarriers for transmucosal delivery of CRISPR-Cas components to treat cystic fibrosis.
