Education

Miryam Criado received her BSc in Chemical Engineering (2011) and her MSc in Chemical Engineering (2013) from University of Salamanca and her MSc in Polymer Science (2014) from Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (UIMP-CSIC). She obtained her PhD with the 'Doctor Europeus' mention (2017) from Institute of Polymer Science and Technology-CSIC (Madrid, Spain). She held a postdoctoral researcher position at Institut Charles Sadron-CNRS in collaboration with the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale-INSERM (Strasbourg, France) in 2017. From June 2020 to February 2021, she returned to ICTP-CSIC (Madrid, Spain) to work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Nanostructured Polymers and Gels group. In March 2021 she joined Innovative Polymers Group.

Research

During PhD at ICTP-CSIC her research was focused on the layer-by-layer assembly of natural polymers leading to multilayer films and hydrogels for biomedical applications. Afterwards, she moved to ICS-CNRS to work in the development of supramolecular peptide hydrogels triggered by enzymatic and electrostatic stimulus from functionalized inorganic nanoparticles, polymer coacervates and covalent polymer hydrogels. Then, she worked in the implementation of these peptide/polymer hybrid hydrogels for tissue engineering applications. Nowadays, her research line at POLYMAT is based on the development of three-dimensional bioelectronic scaffolds combining conducting polymers and peptides.
