Education

Iñaki Gomez received his BSc in Chemistry (2013) and MSc in Applied chemistry and polymeric materials at the University of the Basque Country. During this period he worked in poly(ionic liquids) with thermochromic properties under the supervision of Prof. David Mecerreyes. In 2018 he finished his PhD in Polymat developing new redox-active sulfur based polymer for Lithium Sulfur batteries in collaboration with Cidetec Energy Storage. After this period he became part of Cidetec Energy storage applying synthetic and biobased polymeric materials in several battery chemistries (Lithium Sulfur, Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc air and printed batteries). In 2021 he moved to the Dynasol group as a research member, focusing on the synthesis development and process optimization for several chemicals for the rubber industry. After almost 2 years spent in the chemical industry environment, in 2023 he returned to Polymat as Post-Doctoral researcher in a collaboration with the start-up Polykey Polymers.

Research

His activities will be focused on the development and application of new materials in energy storage technologies, mainly obtained from plastic waste through chemical recycling.
