Education

Xabier Larrañaga graduated in Industrial Engineering in 2016 (University of Basque Country EHU) and received his MSE in Industrial Engineering specialized in Material Science in 2018 from University of Basque Country.
During his bachelor of engineering (BE), he joined the Formula Student Bizkaia Team and worked in design, fabrication and modelling of fibre-reinforced polymers. Moreover, he studied the thermal recycling of CFRP materials in his BE final project. In his MSE in Industrial Engineering he had the chance to study the fatigue behaviour in steel and cast iron gears in Fagor Arrasate S.Coop., where he worked afterwards as member of the mechanical design department until 2019. He has joined Polymat for her PhD studies on February 2020, under the supervision of Prof. Jose Ramon Sarasua and Dr. Ester Zuza.

Research

Xabier Larrañaga is currently working on a PhD research project within the Science and Engineering of Polymeric Biomaterials research group of Prof. Jose Ramon Sarasua. The research project focuses on the study of segmental dynamics of high toughness polylactide based composites and the development of such systems towards 3D printable orthopaedic medical devices.
