Dr. M. Ali Aboudzadeh obtained his BSc on Polymer Engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology (Poly Technique of Tehran), and his Master Degree from Iran Polymer & Petrochemical Institute (IPPI). After his master education, he moved to industry and started working in Mehr Cam Pars Co. (biggest manufacturer of automotive polymeric parts in Iran) in the field of polymer processing and painting of the plastic parts.

After more than 4 years experience of working in industry, in January 2011, he obtained a PhD grant from the University of Basque Country (Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain) and he started investigating under supervision of Prof. David Mecerreyes, developing innovative supramoelcular polymers based on ionic interactions. In 2014, as part of his doctoral training, he spent 6 months in the group of Prof. Maria Forsyth (Institute for Frontier Materials-Deakin University, Australia), working on electrochemistry, conductivity and impedance spectroscopy.

In 2016, he did a post-doctoral fellowship at IIS Biodonostia health research center (under supervision of Prof. Charles Lawrie) in collaboration with NanoBioSeparation group of POLYMAT (UPV/EHU), and he worked on the development of an economic, rapid and sensitive sensor to detect circulating DNA biomarkers associated with cancer.

His current research topic in Polymerization Processes group is focused on Microencapsulation of natural antioxidants for food application.
