Education

Dr. Klemen Pirnat obtained his BS in organic chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry  and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana under supervision of acad. prof. Branko Stanovnik.

In 2008 he started to work in National Institute of Chemistry (NIC) in Slovenia as PhD student under supervision of prof. Robert Dominko. In 2013 he finished his doctoral thesis:  »Lithium ion batteries based on redox active organic molecules« in Faculty of Chemistry  and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana under supervision of prof. Boris Šket.

After PhD he continued to work at National Institute of Chemistry (NIC) focusing on redox polymers that can be used as a cathode materials in Li and also Mg batteries.  In 2017 he was visiting POLYMAT with a »Fellowship to visit ERC Grantee« for six months under the supervision of prof. David Mecerreyes. During this time his research topic was redox polymer nanoparticles (RPN) prepared by emulsion polymerization. In 2018 he came back to POLYMAT for 6 months to continue his work on RPN.
