Education

Dr. Helena Isla obtained her BSc (2008) in Fundamental Chemistry and MSc (2009) in Organic Chemistry  from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She joined the group of “Organic Molecular Materials” in 2008 with a collaboration internship, followed by a FPU grant to achieve the MSc and the PhD with European mention in September 2013, under the supervision of Prof. Nazario Martin and Dr. Emilio Pérez.

The main topic of her research during PhD was the supramolecular chemistry of fullerenes, working with new exTTF-based receptors for fullerenes. During her PhD she joined the groups of Prof. Ben L. Feringa (University of Groningen, Netherlands) and Prof. Javier de Mendoza (ICIQ, Spain) for temporal collaborations, exploring the fields of molecular switches and supramolecular chemistry of higher fullerenes respectively.

After the PhD she changed the research topic to chiroptical switches based on helicenes, as part of the group of Prof. Jeanne Crassous (Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes, France) between 2013 and 2016.

Research

Her current research is focused on the synthesis of covalent organic frameworks.
