Education

Diego Cortizo obtained his degree in Science and Technology of Food at the University of Basque Country (UPV-EHU) in 2006. After one year as an Erasmus student at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), he obtained the degree of Chemistry from the University of Basque Country (UPV-EHU) and Bsc in Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde(Glasgow, UK) in 2008.

He stayed in Glasgow to obtain his PhD under the supervision of Professor Peter J. Skabara working on the synthesis and characterisation of novel conjugated systems for optoelectronic applications. During these studies he spent three months at the LCPO (Bordeaux, France). In 2013, he spent one year of as a post-doc researcher studying responsive-dendrimers at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Germany) under the supervision of Professor Klaus Müllen.

Research

His current research interest is focused on the synthesis and characterisation of conjugated polymers based on twisted pyrene fused aza-acenes and heteroacenes derivatives.
