Iker Arrizabalaga earned his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Navarra in 2019. His final research project was about synthesis of titanium dioxide photocatalysts for water treatment applications.
In 2020, he obtained his Master's Degree in Chemistry and Polymers from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He carried out his final research project in CIDETEC Surface Engineering (Donostia) on the synthesis and characterization of polyurethane-polythiourethane networks for self-healing coatings.

During his BSc studies, Iker participated in a research project about geochemical characterization of XIIIth century dated glazed ceramics in University of Navarra.
His current PhD, under the guidance of Dr. Irune Villaluenga and in co-direction with CIDETEC Energy Storage (Donostia), is focused in the use of polymer electrolytes for Li-ion batteries.
