Education

Giulia Magi Meconi obtained her Bachelor Degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Perugia in 2011, focusing on theoretical computational investigation on the reactivity and catalysis of chemical processes using DFT calculations. In February 2014 she earned the Master's Degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Perugia and in the June of the same year she got the "Qualification to the Profession of Chemist" .

Research

During the MSc she has the opportunity to work for one year at the "Institut de Quimica Computacional i Catalisi" of Universitat de Girona (Spain). Here she refined her theoretical and computational skills and her knowledge about organometallic catalysis.

Furthermore she carried out her final thesis performing DFT static calculations with Gaussian09 set of programs on the study of the reaction mechanism of palladium and nickel-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction and on the role of the precatalyst activation. The work has been supervised by Prof. Paola Belanzoni (University of Perugia), Dr. Miquel Solà i Puig and Dr. Albert Poater Teixidor (University of Girona).
