Alejandro earned his B. Sc. in Chemistry by the University of los Andes (Merida, Venezuela) in November 2009. From September 2008 to February 2009 he was a intern in the new materials group of the Basque Country University, UPV/EHU (Leioa, España) where he focused his research on IPN nanogel-hidrogel networks, synthesizing and characterizing crosslinked acrylamide polymers by miniemulsion and bulk polymerization.

From September 2010 to July 2011 attended the master Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials by the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (Donostia-San Sebastian, España) where his work focused on the study of the flux behavior in slit die of complex polymeric matrixes. He also attended the Emulsion Polymerization Course organized by POLYMAT in September 2011.

In POLYMAT, his research focuses on the design of waterborne nanocomposites polymer-Graphene, specifically those made with acrylic (co)monomers. The aim is to create films that enhances mechanical properties.
